Compete in online games against other players?
Hi, I am Desmond Sng, a student on the MSc Psychology Programme at the University of Derby. I am looking for esports gamers to take part in a study I am doing entitled “Tilt in Esports: Prevalence, Triggers and Personality Predictors”, supervised by Prof. David Sheffield.
Tilt (or “tilting”) has often been identified by esports athletes and coaches as something that affects competition performance, but it has not yet been studied in detail. Our study hopes to address this gap so that we can better understand tilt and develop ways to deal with it.
If you play any esports game competitively you are invited to participate.
You may be playing any type of game including MOBAs (e.g., League of Legends), FPS games (e.g., Fortnite, Valorant), sports games (e.g. EA Sports FC) and others.
To take part you should:
- be 18 years old and above;
- have no history of mental illness;
- have played any esport game for over one year competitively (i.e. competing with other players);
- and still be playing the game at least once a week currently.
If you decide to take part in the study you will be asked to fill out an online survey, which will take around 5-10 minutes. This can be done on a laptop, tablet or mobile phone at any time suitable for you.
Your participation is entirely voluntary, and the information you provide will remain confidential and anonymous. You may also withdraw from the research after completing the questionnaire.
If you have any questions you may contact us.
